Warning: Read this document completely and carefully before attempting operation of your lightsaber. While less clumsy and random than a blaster, your lightsaber is still capable of inflicting accidental injury or death if used improperly.
Check to make sure that all parts were included with your lightsaber. The box should include:
Remove the lightsaber battery cover by pressing in the cover release button and turning counter-clockwise (Figure 1). The cover should release easily, exposing the battery chamber.
Insert the battery, positive side inward, into the battery chamber (Figure 2).
Warning: Use only plasma-based rechargeable focused-laser batteries. Use of any other type of battery may result in leakage or explosion.
Note: Jedi with limited mobility and/or long extension cords may prefer to use the THX® Lightsaber-AC Converter (Part 1138), available separately.
Replace battery cover and lock in place by turning clockwise (Figure 3).
Note: Your lightsaber is set to "Light Side" by default. If you are evil, you may wish to set the Force Optimization to "Dark Side." See 3.2, "Force Optimization."
Set saber into charger as shown in Figure 4, and turn charger on. Saber will be fully charged in 45 minutes. Do not overcharge.
At this point, your lightsaber will be ready to use.
Your saber's power switch (Figure 5) has three settings: Off, Safe On, and On. In the "Safe On" position, the saber will only be engaged as long as pressure is kept on the hilt sensors. In the "On" position, the saber will remain engaged even if not being held.
To engage your saber, hold it with both hands as shown in Figure 6. Make sure that the blade emission lens is facing away from you, and that you are at least one and one-half meters from any person, object, or non-computer-generated creature. Slide power switch to "On" or "Safe On," depending on preference and personal style.
To attack, simply swing your lightsaber in a firm but smooth arc toward your enemy or target. Most substances, including flesh, metal, scales or latex, should provide little resistance, but care should be taken not to lose your grip upon impact, particularly if not using the "Safe On" setting.
Note: If this is your first lightsaber, you may wish to practice with the THX PainZap Floating Challenge Droid®, either alone or in conjunction with the THX Blast Helmet®. See order form for more information.
To turn off your saber, slide the power switch back to the "Off" position. Saber may then be stored in the included belt attachment.
Warning: Do not attempt to store engaged lightsaber in belt attachment. Doing so may result in injury.
Your lightsaber can operate for up to 20 consecutive hours on a single charge. Refer to charge meter (Figure 7) to keep track of charge remaining.
Your lightsaber may be cleaned with a damp soapy sponge. Remove battery before cleaning. If in need of heavier cleaning or repair, please take your lightsaber to an authorized THX® service center.
If you are on the Dark Side of the Force, or later give into the Dark Side of the Force, you may wish to set the Force Optimization on your lightsaber to "Dark Side." While not necessary for operation, setting your lightsaber to "Dark Side" will make the blade's impact considerably more painful for your victim, reinforcing your evil nature.
To switch Force Optimization to "Dark Side" simply insert the Dark Side/Light Side Conversion Spanner into the Conversion Jack as depicted in Figure 8, and turn clockwise until you hear a "snap." The lightsaber cannot be converted back: once you give into the Dark Side, forever will it rule your destiny.
Imperial regulations require us to inform you that using your lightsaber in anger, or otherwise giving in to your rage, greatly increases your changes of being converted to the Dark Side. Accordingly, it is suggested that you give into your hatred that we may rule the galaxy together as father and son.
