24 June 2002: Dave's Instant Film

Dave Neilsen was a participant in the first Instant Film Festival, writing the screenplay for the film "Delicious Lunch." And, as any moderately competent bookie could have told you, his film won "Best Picture" and he walked away with the "Best Screenplay" award. You can check out his work on the Featured Films page.

21 May 2002: BayCon Update

The time and place for the Brunching Shuttlecocks panel at BayCon is now set. 4 pm, Saturday, May 25, in the Santa Barbara room at the San José DoubleTree Hotel. There will be a reading of as-yet-unpublished material from the upcoming Ratings book, we'll be handing out the last of our Brunching stickers, there'll be a Q & A and a lot of glad-handing. It'll be fun. Come and be part of it, you!

18 May 2002: A Message from Lore

This isn't really news, but it's important to say. There have been a lot of people involved with the administration of the Brunching BB between Pahl and Avi, and there are people besides who are putting time and energy into it even now. I want to offer my heartfelt and sincere thanks to everyone who's taken on some of the task. Mere sugar-coated grain chunks cannot express how honored and pleased I am that people think highly enough of the Brunching Shuttlecocks to invest something of themselves into creating a place where readers can meet each other and discuss the site (and a lot of other topics as well). Thanks, folks. You're the bestest!

16 May 2002: BayCon

As you may have noticed from the banners, there is going to be a Brunching gathering at BayCon in San José on Saturday, May 25. Lore will be appearing and reading from the upcoming "Book of Ratings." The time and place of the meeting should be on the final BayCon schedule and will be announced here when they're set. Information on BayCon is available at www.baycon.org.

15 May 2002: New Cereal Unit

For his work in running the Unofficial Official Unofficial Brunching Bulletin Board, Avi Miller is inducted into the Order of the Individual Cereal Unit, and will henceforth be known as the Marquis d'Weetabique

13 March 2002: New, Ostensibly Improved Cyborger

In response to months of asynchronous distributed griping, the Cyborger has been upgraded to accomodate names of up to eleven letters. Also, we've added a lovely graphic, suitable for sticking on your personal page if you're into that sort of thing. Enjoy.

4 February 2002: Impending Bookfullness

We are proud and invigorated to announce that the first book based on the works of the Brunching Shuttlecocks will be coming out from the Crown imprint of Random House in October. It will be entitled "The Book of Ratings" and will include a great many Ratings from this very Web site, and also a great many Ratings unique to the book, including but not limited to the oft-anticipated Sexual Position Rating.

The Book of Ratings is of course written by our own Lore Sjöberg, and is illustrated by Stephen Notley, of Bob the Angry Flower fame. It will be available at all finer outlets of reading material near you, with the possible exception of those which include quarter booths. We will, of course, have a purchase link hanging off the site when the time comes, so start pawning your most beloved possessions now!
